Second prototype with raft adhesion and supports

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! It’s finally done. Ended up having to adjust my extruder and Z axis voltages, swap the spring on my bowden extruder for a stiffer one, and play with the curaengine settings.

So what is it for?

Jack pads!

I’ll be interested to see how well those hold up.

What did of plastic did you use? How long do you expect them to last?

It’s ABS. As far as longevity, no idea! Since the material cost is $15 per kilogram, I could probably make 100 or more of these with one 1kg spool. If they start breaking apart, maybe I’ll spray paint them before installing them

That’s super cool, if you Rhino line them it might provide a little more protection compared to spray paint.

I should look up what chemicals are in spray paint, undercoating, rhino liner, etc. to see which might dissolve ABS...

Oh ya, I didn’t think about that. I am sure this is some combination of plastic and paint you can figure out.

I know for sure acetone will dissolve ABS, but chemistry and plastics are complicated

WIsh our library had ABS printers, but they only have PLA printers and one semi-industrial ZPrinter (uses ceramic-composite powder but can crack easily).

I’ve got a few small items I’ve tried to print for my car in PLA and the summer heat always eventually warps them... :(

If they’re small enough, I could print some for you and mail them. My printer is 8"x8"x8"

That would be awesome, thanks! I already did the files up in Sketchup and converted them to .stl format - I’ve printed them on the library’s printers already a few times, so I know they are the right size...PLA just doesn’t have the longetivity or durability. :)

It would be 2 clips (plus their screw caps and cover clips...you’d understand once I sent the files) I designed for holding my snow-brush up and out of the way on my flipping parcel shelf in the back of my ‘09 Accent hatch. Then 4 wheel center caps for my summer rims. They should definitely all be smaller than 8x8x8 for sure...

None of the parts would be larger than 3.5"...

No pics of the clips handy, but these are the center caps...I forget their diameter off-hand and I am at work right now...
